How wonderful – the warmer weather has arrived! I did not even think about wrapping myself in my winter dressing gown this morning when I got out of bed; nor did I don my winter slippers because it was warm enough not to! Yahee!
I had my Quiet Time, uploaded my blog from yesterday and checked all my emails.
This morning Ken and I - yes, Ken is coming with me to our fortnightly “Coffee Club” meeting. This morning we are getting together at “Sage Express” near Kmart in Erina Fair. I have met with these ladies several times now and am now getting to know them a ;pt better. In fact out of the Coffee Club members there are a few who attend our Green Point Baptist Church with Ken and mwah – Mariekie, Judy, Pippa and another friend Jinny.
Today the ex-South African group met and there were Pippa, Kathi, Alma, Judy, Suzanne, Mariekie, Nico, Ken and myself. We had a good old natter and caught up with all our news – I am sorry that Suzanne is moving soon and will move far from this area. I do hope I see her again before she moves.
From the coffee morning I left Ken sitting on one of the benches in the shopping centre and I hot footed it – and hoo-boy, it was a long way from the café – it was just outside Big W – where I got our gate keys cut – a spare for Mich’ and one for us too. Done. Then I had to leg it out back to my man before we left Erina Fair and headed home.
When we got back home there were the two drakes waiting for me to give them some bread. They are such beautiful birds, and I wish one could capture the brilliant colors of their feathers – emerald greens, slashes of purple and midnight blues – just stunning. They were very grateful for the bread and once they had devoured it they left politely.
Today I need to put cream on our leather furniture because with all the damp weather we have had lately there are the odd places looking a little moldy, so with a one-two-three action of my leather cream soaked cloth it will be gone!
Then it was time to plan what to take with us, and I had to pack the empty plastic containers to take back to the farm too.
I also worked on a menu and what food to buy to take with us. I think I will buy some stuff as we pass through Wauchope – like the fresh stuff we will need. I am not panicking too much as we will have to go into Wauchope again on the Saturday (when we meet up with our ex-South African friends) and then again on Sunday to attend our old church.
Initially this morning it did not look like anything like what the weather the weathermen had forecast – it was overcast and definitely cool, but by the time we left Erina Fair the sun was out seriously blasting sunrays everywhere and the temperature rose to 27℃! Well done weathermen you got the weather right!
It was good to walk into our home which was beautifully cool. I think that feature will be a huge blessing here in summer. Luckily, we have an air conditioner in our bedroom too.
Well, I managed to pack several empty plastic containers together to take up to the farm, then the next problem was how to get everything into my little car! QWE needed s hoe horn to get everything in, but its is in!
I cleaned out the fridge and luckily there was not too much in it, but I will leave things like milk, bread, butter - plus in the cupboards there is a lot of tinned food so Mich’ can make herself something for lunch when she is working here.
Tomorrow, before we leave, I will pack the frozen and cold foods to take with us and then make a quick stop in Wauchope for the fresh food and veggies we will need on the farm.
What lesson did I learn today? To make my lists of what we need to take with us to the farm.
