Blog for Friday 12th December 2025

I woke up to the tune of my alarm clock. Rats! It was time to get up and out of bed again. I rolled out leaving both Ken and Raafie still in the Land of Nod, looking terribly snug and content there.

When I got up it was not raining but at about half past six it began to rain. Oh dear! That meant a soggy day in town for me today. Well, the farm needed every drop of rain it could get, so that was a small price for me to pay.

Before leaving the farm, I checked the rain gauge, and we had had 6.5mm of rain overnight. Wonderful! I also checked Paddy's trees outside, and they were looking ever so happy. So, I did not need to water them as we were getting more rain today, and we did.

I was in Wauchope before nine o'clock this morning, which meant it was easy to find parking, and there were no queues in the shops I went to.

I was so disappointed as the other day I bought six Christmas place mats, and what I thought was six Christmas matching coasters, but ... on getting back home I discovered that there were only four Christmas coasters. Silly me, I ajust assumed that there were six, but nope, there were only four. So, this morning I popped into the shop to get another four Christmas coasters to match my place mats, but alas, they had sold out! I could have cried.

Today in town I only bought what I needed immediately as I will have to go into town again next week - one to finish my Christmas chopping and two, to pick up my Christmas meat order.

I did not cover my car when I got back, but parked my car down at the river crossing, as I wanted the rain to wash off any dust on it. Plus, that cover is so heavy with rain that it makes it extra difficult for me on my own, to lift it up to put it on.

When I got home, Ken and Raafie were still fast asleep so I unloaded the ute, and carried everything inside and put it away.

Next, I made one of the desserts for when our family - well part of our family - will be here over the Christmas week. It is a recipe that I love - a Passionfruit Al Freddo - which is a frozen dessert served with strawberries, kiwi fruit and grenadillas. Very yummy. It is now sitting in the freezer awaiting being devoured.

Then I had the big clean up in the kitchen after that and I washed the glasses that the dishwasher had not done a good enough job on.

I did another study on chapter 7 of the Book of Daniel while I had a coffee and took a deep breath. I had been rushing around like a crazy person all day. So, it was good to quieten down and pause for a while.

I then swept in the large area of the shed and was going to let my little Busy Lizzie robot mop the floor there, but I had not realised that it had been disconnected, so I had to charge it again and will let it do the mopping in the morning instead.

I wrapped the birthday gifts for my two friends and will give their gifts to them on Sunday when we are all going to have lunch together. I am so looking forward to that. I really enjoy creating something pretty when wrapping up gifts, so I enjoyed that task.

For our supper tonight I had bought some delicious looking beef and mushroom pies, and I baked them and both Ken and I thoroughly enjoyed them. Much lip smacking done by both of us. I will definitely buy those pies again!

Today, Matt, Ren' and Paddy's son and who is one of our six grandsons, received his degree from the uni' - which is so exciting. Here he is wearing a gown and mortar board as a witness to that fact!

"Matt' Well done we are so proud of you!"

Oh, what a feeling it was when I sank into our bed tonight and knew it was time to sleep! What a pleasure.

What lesson did I learn today? Plan it - write it down- do it.

What am I grateful for today? More rain!

My saying for today is ...
