Blog for Friday 19th December 2025

Oh rats! I forgot to set my alarm clock again and as I am so tired what with hovering on my broomstick, flicking the duster around with gay abandonment, scrubbing, washing, ironing et cetera it was simply a miracle that I woke up just after four this morning!

I shot out of bed at great speed, thinking that I had overslept, so it was a lovely surprise to see that I was on track!

I went up to my studio to have my Quiet Time and do some more studying on the Book of Revelation. A study that I could do repeatedly and never get tired of doing so.

Early this morning I went out and watered Paddy’s trees in pots and I tried to set up the Windex for me to clean the windows later. I tried it out and managed to almost drown myself in the process! It was so funny – I looked like a drowned rat after the hose pipe shot off the attachment to the Windex container! I honestly needed windscreen wipers for my glasses! I even squelched when I walked!

I asked Ken to use his strength to sort the Windex attachment out for me, which he kindly did, and it worked perfectly!

I did more loads and loads of washing and hung it all out with that wretched rooster of ours trying to intimidate me every step of my way out to the washing line. He should know better, yesterday I whacked him twice with a plastic bowl and he was most indignant about that. Tough! He is blessed to still have a head on his neck!

I worked non-stop in our living area today and it never seemed to get any better although I had worked up a serious sweat trying to get things organized. I know it will suddenly (hopefully!) come right, but at the moment everything is still looking rather chaotic!

Tomorrow I am hoping to do some baking and creating desserts apart from the continual tidying-up campaign I am on.

I need to finish washing the windows – I managed a few windows today but there are still plenty to do. I will do my best.

My friend Marg sent me a photo of her wallowing in their swimming pool which set up incredible feelings of envy in me as it was so hot here, I am sure I was melting slowly. Well, not that slowly actually!

Ken, bless his heart, went into Wauchope for me today to pick up some groceries that I needed to create desserts I am wanting to make, and to pick up my meat order too. He also had his hand re-dressed and apparently, he has one more re-dressing to be done at the hospital. Today, it was a young nurse in training that did Ken’s hand, and she really has a LONG way to go in the bandaging area of her training obviously! She did a terrible job, so I will have to re-dress Ken’s hand again tomorrow.

When Ken phoned to say that he was on his way home I put our air con’ on to make our living area cooler. Our air con’ here is really old and does its best but it does not get this area really cool, but it does cool the room down a bit for which I am most grateful.

For supper we are having sausages and potatoes, as my energy levels are non-existent tonight. It is far too hot to be hungry, and I have swallowed litres and litres of water, cordial and coke today so am not in the least bit hungry.

I asked Ken to buy me a couple of noodles when he was in town today, for us to be able to float in the river over this Christmas period as I am sure it will be hot, and as the river is only moving slowly it is fun to just drape one’s body over a noodle and tread water to keep cool whilst in the river.

It is nice having it light for so late but then problem with that is that I go to bed too late and battle - a major World War III - with the duvet the next morning!

What lesson did I learn today? To try to pace myself to get things done without demanding too much of myself.

What am I grateful for today? Our air con’, no matter how old it is it is still a blessing.

My saying for today is …
