Blog for Friday 26th December 2025

I woke up at four o’clock but only left our bedroom at about twenty past four. I was in slow mo’ this morning!

I made myself a coffee and tiptoed up to my studio to have my Quiet Time.

When I heard Mich’ and Robert moving around downstairs I went down to join them as they wanted to leave the farm by eight-ish this morning to drive up to Queensland to Robert’s cousins for a few days.

No one wanted breakfast, preferring to just to have coffees and rusks. They will stop on the road to have a late breakfast or early lunch somewhere, which helps break their journey too.

Ken and I waved our fond farewells as we watched Mich’, Robert, Josh’ Paulina and Savvy leave the farm.

Ken went back inside but I stood outside to watch them disappear from sight, but … then they did not disappear. It looked as if they were standing still in the middle of the river.

Well, they were! They were stuck.

I called out to Ken to come and help them and the two of us piled into the ute’ but … the ute’s battery was flat. So, we hopped onto the quad bike to whizz down, but by then Robert and Josh’ had managed to remove or pile rocks around their vehicle’s wheels and Mich’ drove them out!

I had tried phoning earlier to check what was happening but when they were out Mich’ phoned to say that they had all enjoyed their little “adventure” and apparently, that is, Mich’ and Paulina, had briefly considered driving on, leaving the two men behind in the river! Wicked!

It has been a great Christmas – very relaxed, and just fun. Here are a few photos of Christmas Day here on the farm.

Okay, that is enough photos now, I am sure you get the idea that it was just a happy day all round.

Once the Taylor tribe had left the farm Ken returned to our bed and I tidied the shed for a short while and then I went up to my studio to catch up with emails and read for a bit. I also did a Bible study but started to feel incredibly tired, so I lay down and had a lovely snooze for a short while.

It is crazy how nippy it is today after all the heat we have had. We had 10mm of rain overnight and then woke up to the day being rather chilly. Just a huge drop in temperature.

Our home is eerily quiet after having family with us and after the shed was filled with chitter-chatter, laughter, fun games et cetera. But I am so grateful for the time we have had with them and must be content again with the quiet as it is something I do enjoy also.

Tonight, Ken and I can have leftover butter chicken and rice for our supper, should either of us feel puckish.

What lesson did I learn today? To enjoy the noisy and quiet moments in my life equally.

What am I grateful for today? Time spent with family always.

My saying for today is …
