Blog for Monday 10th August 2026

I woke up and then decided that more sleep was needed so I rolled over and slept until twenty to five! Lazy wench!

It had rained overnight – so that was my excuse for grabbling a few more minutes in the Land of Nod! Hah!

I went through to my study and had my Quiet Time. Oh, how I love this room – it truly is my little bit of happiness filled with the things I love and the things that I like to do. A very special corner of my world.

This morning sometime Matt’ will be swinging by on his way to the farm, to pick up the i-pad here for Paddy. It is a beautiful one that Paddy gave to Ken to use on the farm, but as Ken is not using it now, it seems such a waste, and it would be very useful on the farm for Paddy and Matt’. I do not need it either, as I have a brand-new laptop, plus the i-pad having the larger screen than an i-phone it is wonderful for taking photos especially outdoors and would be great for taking photos of the cattle.

Wow, today is a very grey, and heavily overcast with promises of rain scribbled across the skies. It is also windy and cold, which is unusual when there is rain about. A good day to be at home for sure.

Wow! Suddenly at half past eight the sun broke through and announced she was still there and flooded the skies with her golden rays to prove it – just beautiful!

Matt’ arrived at nine o’clock to pick up the i-pad and then he set sail for the farm. He and Paddy are loading several bulls for sale this week – a task I do not envy them for, as the bulls get really edgy when in a confined area like the ‘yards. I can remember once legging it out when I was in the ‘yards on my own with four bulls who decided to have one almighty scrap with mud, skin and hair flying everywhere plus loud bellowing and slapping of their heads into the ground before they charged one another!

I decided that I did not have one brave bone in my body and so ran up the enclosed crush, then up the loading ramp and jumped down and ran as fast as my ancient limbs could carry me, yelling – with much huff and puff over the radio - for Ken to come and rescue me!

He did the good man!

I cleared out one of my desk drawers today – what a good girl am I? No, no! Do not answer that!

This afternoon I went to the shops to get a few groceries and decided to try a new recipe for our supper tonight. I love doing that as I dislike cooking the same old same old.

Tonight we are having Lamb Pot Pie using puff pastry and the ingredients are some that I would never have thought of mixing together. So, I am keen to taste and decide if I would ever make this dish again. I will serve it with mashed potato and two veggies.

I must admit that the aroma emanating from the kitchen rather delicious, so I hope it lives up to that!

It did!

Tomorrow, we have our Bible Study Group – a nice mix of people and I think both Ken and I will be happy in this group. Tomorrow the usual leader will be back so I am interested to see how he leads it and what we will be doing.

I am getting excited about our cruise as the days are flying by and soon, we will be at sea! I am always horribly nervous at sea so maybe I should pack a pair of water wings for me ... in case! Ken loves being on the water so that will be nice for him.

What lesson did I learn today? To work my way down my To Do List for the day, one task at a time.
