It is a very Happy-Happy Birthday for one of my good friends – Mariaan – today. Ken and I wish her everything that she could wish for herself and more; may the year ahead be filled to overflowing with laughter, love, good friends, new adventures, fun, new adventures  and a deep inner peace.

I was up bright and early – not so much bushy-tailed this morning but awake! That was a good beginning!

I had my Quiet Time, uploaded my blog, checked emails and then waited for my man to arise from our bed.

Ken got up at about half past nine I think it was and he was still keen to get down to Terrigal to see the Springboks, who had stayed a couple of nights in the Crowne Hotel on the waterfront there. But I was not sure that they were still there this morning, so I checked with Gemini (AI App) and they had already left to fly to Perth where they will be playing rugby this weekend.

So, that was the end of that idea. Ken tottered back to our bedroom and I put on my painting clothes and went outside to begin to paint our outdoor furniture.

I was about three quarters through painting the first chair when suddenly an incredible wind from nowhere started to blow fiercely, scattering dust, leaves and debris everywhere, which meant the end of my painting as everything was sticking to the wet paint! G-r-e-a-t! (Not!)

So, I had to come inside and wash my paintbrush and clean up and just forget about painting today.

Instead, I did two large loads of washing and hung it out as the strong wind got it dry in no time at all.

Today, for me, was one of those odd blah-sort of days that I rarely have. A day when I really do not know what I want to do. I had set my mind on getting a lot of painting done today but the wind cancelled that goal, and then I sort of fluffed around not wanting to do anything in particular. I hate those sorts of days as I achieve absolutely nothing.

When Ken got up again,  we sat in our kitchen and had a good discussion about what will be discussed at our Bible Study Group tomorrow. It should be an interesting morning and I am looking forward to it.

Yesterday, I put on a slow cooker and made a large chicken stew. So, that is what we will have tonight with some of the mashed potato leftover from Sunday night. Good! I have three dishes or rather three meals, that we can have this week already cooked and ready. So, I will not have to cook too much this week! We have chicken stew with lots of veggies, a beef curry and also lots of cold meats and salads too.

Today, Ken, bless his heart, sorted out the box of stuff he had had next to his bed for a while. So, that has tidied that little area up nicely.

The head for our garden hose has disappeared unfortunately – maybe the bush turkey took it! It came off and squirted me all over when I washed my car the other day – on Saturday I think it was. I tried to push it back onto the hose, but it was not gripping on properly so I made a note for Ken to fix that for me. But now – voeps! It has gone. Rats! I will have to hunt for it as it could not be far. B-u-t, knowing my age and what comes with that I could have put it away in the fridge! Best I check there!

Seeing I just did not want to do anything in particular after my painting was so rudely interrupted by the wind, I flopped down in front of the TV in the late afternoon or early evening and watched some police interrogations which always fascinate me.

After supper both Ken and I went off to bed. Ken to scroll and me to read.

What lesson did I learn today? That it is okay to have the odd blah-day.

What am I grateful for today? A quiet day.

My saying for today is …
