Blog for Saturday 19th September 2026

I only got out of bed at a quarter to five this morning because I went to sleep late last night. I lost track of time as I was reading (well, listening to an audio book) in bed!
I had my Quiet Time, uploaded my blog and scrolled through my emails – answering, filing or deleting as I went.
Then I check the slow cooker that had the chicken and veggie soup in it and I will allow it to cool down before freezing several tubs of soup for another cold day.
Today I would like to go to Bunnings and get more paint so Ken and I can start to paint our outdoor garden furniture. Plus, I would like to get some empty little pots to begin potting plants for sale but for later in the year.
Today promises to be an absolutely picture-perfect day, which I am so happy about, as it is Adrian and Rachel’s wedding today. They are having a very, very small wedding and Ken and I wish them well on this their special day.
Sometime today I would also like to wash and vacuum my little car, and I now have a hose pipe so it will be easy for me to do that.
I sat outside at our new outdoor table, and the chairs are really lovely – heavy and solid. I am so pleased with them. It was too hot to sit outside for long though, so I came back inside after a while. I love sitting outside and the ducks see me from wherever they are hiding and come to beg for something to eat.
Ken was tired today so he asked at half past ten if he could lie down for half an hour which eventually turned into almost another two hours before we left our home and headed to the shops. I dropped Ken off to feed the machine with our empty tins, cans and plastic bottles while I whipped around in Coles next-door getting groceries.
Then I went back to pick Ken up and we headed off to Bunnings to get paint and paint brushes to revive this outdoor furniture we have just bought.
At Bunnings Ken said he would like to go to Erina Fair as he wanted a cord for his shaver – he has lost it somewhere – here or on the farm? So, I took him to Erina Fair and let him find the Shaver Shop, which he managed to do but then he got lost getting back to me in the parking. At least I was there and could talk him through it and eventually he popped up on the roof parking where I was, but at the wrong entrance/exit, so I drove there to pick him up as he was not a very happy-chappy by then and he was sore from walking here and there, poor guy!
Once back home I unpacked the groceries, and Ken had a look for the box of “spare cords” – except it was nowhere to be seen! Probably gone back to the farm!!! Oh dear!
Sitting in my study with the warm sunshine pours in I almost nodded off to sleep – what a lovely day!
For supper we had beef curry and rice with Mrs. Balls South African chutney, and I also had some Naan bread.
I had planned to watch something on TV but then decided to go to bed and listen to my audio book instead.
I went to sleep early but this time not with my audio book still running! That is my normal trick!
What lesson did I learn today? To turn my audio book off when I begin to feel sleepy!
What am I grateful for today? Such a beautiful day!
My saying for today is …
