Blog for Sunday 20th September 2026

Yahee! A new day and the weathermen had promised us another beautiful day! I could not wait to hop out of bed and begin to live in it.

I was up and out of bed nice and early – I had my Quiet Time, uploaded my blog for yesterday and checked my emails.

 I had a shower and got myself dressed for church. Wonderful! Summer clothes today as the temperature was going to be climbing up into the 30’s today! Yahee!

I woke Ken up at eight o’clock and after a few snorts and grunts he got up, showered and dressed too.

We left just after nine o’clock and today Lou’ was preaching at church – finishing off the series on “Formed”. Today was the fifth in that series and one that I have really enjoyed. But before she spoke a young guy told us about what and where he is filling the role of reaching out to the young people attending uni’ – very interesting talk.

After church we stayed and had a mug of coffee and a chat to the people there, then I drove us – Ken and mwah – to Aldis to pick a few bits and bobs as Mich’ and Robert are coming across later today to have supper with us and to watch “The Block” with us too.

Once we got back home Ken headed off to have a snooze and I unpacked the groceries and then sorted out what I will make for our supper tonight. As it is still rather hot, I will make a cold supper – cold meats and salads – and hopefully it will still be light enough for us to sit outside at our “new” table and chairs!

This afternoon I did a study on the Book of John – one of my favorite books in the Bible. I highlighted the writings that only appear in the Book of John and not in the other gospels – just for my own interest.

I also wrote some notes on how I would answer a person who asks me about why I believe in Jesus – as that is what we will be discussing at our Bible Study Group on Tuesday.

Okay, in the very late afternoon I prepared the platter of cold meats - roast beef slices, honey ham, corned beef, and roast chicken, I made a couple of salads, put out some cold asparagus, and creamed corn, and hard boiled eggs, I will make some hot mashed potato when Mich’ and Robert get here. I have already prepared it and just have to put the microwave on to cook it.

Yahee! Mich found and sent me a few photos from the wedding yesterday which apparently was really lovely. I am amazed at how tall both Jordan and Ben’ are – they tower over most of the men there!

In the late afternoon or rather, early evening, when Mich' and Robert arrived here, I phoned Kerry' (our oldest daughter in South Africa) to wish Cole, our first great grandson for his first birthday! It was great catching up with her and we had some screen time too while she chatted to the four of us.

Mich’ and Robert got here at about six o’clock and the four of us settled down to chomp and chat and then promptly at seven o’clock hurried through to watch “The Block” on TV. But … as happened twice before, the TV froze during the time that Mich’ turned the sound off to avoid listening to all the ads. Thankfully, Mich’ does a lot of work in her support role with IT and she corrected our TV that was battling since I connected Foxtel to it. So, that was a blessing that the TV froze and that Mich' was here to fix it – now no more troubles!

While we watched TV we also had our mini Magnum ice creams, followed by some Top Deck chocolate! Wickedly delicious.

What lesson did I learn today? Just to enjoy the day.
