Day Two of being the same age as my brother, but then tomorrow I become the older sister again!

I rolled out of bed and into the new day in the small hours of today, then made my way to my study to have my Quiet Time and begin my normal morning routine.

I showered and got dressed a little earlier today as I knew Robert was picking up the concrete cutter just after seven and so he would arrive here fairly early.

Robert did.

The plumbers marked out the area on the concrete driveway where Robert had to cut out a square of the concrete so that they could begin to mend the break in the water pipe beneath it.

When Robert began to work my goodness gracious the dust was absolutely incredible. I was watching from our bedroom window and one minute I could see him and the next he was completely obscured by clouds of thick concrete powdery dust!

At one stage in the morning an elderly neighbor yelled at Robert about the dust as he – that is the neighbor – had left all his car windows open over night and obviously the dust would have drifted in. Robert’s fault? I think not!

Robert worked at cutting the concrete for four hours – horribly heavy and hard work, but he did it. Then when Mich’ and Ethan arrived, Mich’ took the cutter back from the hiring place and Ethan began to help Robert with the jack hammering and also laying the foundation for the storage shed.

Robert and Ethan took turns in doing the jack hammering and then Mich’ returned with a larger and heavier jack hammer to continue removing the concrete driveway.

While Mich’ was out returning the concrete cutter and picking up the jack hammer, I made sandwiches for us all for lunch. I just made large chicken, cheese, mayo’ and salad sarmies and we all washed them down with a cool drink. By that time of the day, it was seriously hot after the day having begun overcast and rather cool!

While the men were working outside Mich’ helped me finish booking Ken and I online for our cruise and to set up our Wise bank card online again. Then on Friday Ken and I will have to complete our health check, and we are booked to board the ship on Saturday at 1.30pm. All so exciting!

I was concerned as I could see no record on my Celebrity (name of the line we are cruising on) app on my phone of the packages I had paid for. So, I began the long search through my bank statement online to find the receipt numbers. Whoo-hoo! I got them so all is well!

We had said our farewells to the family as Ethan was off to Uni’ in Newcastle until Tuesday, and Mich’ and Robert returned back home – poor Robert looked absolutely finished.

Ken and I then settled down to watch the Wallabies take on the All Blacks – a rugby game that began so well but, in the end, the All Blacks smashed the Wallabies – so much so that I did not stay and watch until the end of the game, but went to bed to sulk!

What lesson did I learn today? To wait for the concrete dust to settle before hanging out our  wet washing!

What am I grateful for today? It was nice to have Mich’, Robert and Ethan here for most of the day.

My saying for today is …
