Blog for Thursday 17th SEptember 2026

Wow! Wow! Wow! Today, in exactly one month we will be going on our cruise to New Zealand. What an incredible spoiling given to us by Shelayne (our middle daughter in the USA) and Mike, her husband!
After I had had my Quiet Time, uploaded my blog and checked my emails I also prayed especially for my friend Hester who has to say her last “Good- bye!” to her precious furry friend Rocket today. Not an easy thing to do but the kindest. My heart was so heavy for her as it is never easy to say those “Good-byes!”
This morning after my shower I decided to go for a nice long walk to try and get the crick out of my hip or lower back. So, I walked to the Post Office and bank of shops, turned around and walked back home and that was enough for today.
When I got back home, I decided to unpack all the bowls et cetera, but first I had to make room for them which required unpacking and repacking cupboards. Then I managed to fit them into the one cupboard in the passage, which I was happy about.
Next, I re-arranged all my books in the two cupboards along the walk in my study and managed to fit in a whole lot of files too, which was wonderful.
Then I allowed myself a half hour or so outside in the sunshine. I was sitting nice and quietly in my little canvas outdoor chair when the ducks spied me and came waddling in for more bread. I had already fed them twice this morning the little guts’- so I gave them some corn kernels instead as too much bread is not good for them.
When I came inside, I watched the end of the court case that I have been following and then I hauled out the ironing board and iron, so thta my guilt was a little less severe!
Y-e-s! I did all the ironing so that was a good feeling - and I put it away too.
Tomorrow we are meeting up with a couple who we met on the farm when they came to buy a bull from us just before we left the farm to move down here. He (Mal’) and (Julie) his wife have asked us to join them in Avoca tomorrow for a coffee, so I do hope I manage to get us there. We are meeting at their home.
I must admit that I do not like being the sole driver everywhere, especially as it is very busy on the roads here. But I am slowly becoming more adept at finding my way around and so far, have not taken any vehicle or pedestrian out!
After supper tonight I watched a couple of episodes on TV of people telling their stories of survival of the twin towers on 9/11 – absolutely incredible! I marveled at their bravery and how terrifying that must have been at the time, plus how that experience changed their lives. Listening to their stories made me so aware of how we ought to enjoy each and every day as one never knows if or when it could be our last here on earth!
What lesson did I learn today? To appreciate and live in the present.
What am I grateful for today? That I sorted all my books out.
My saying for today is …
