Blog for Saturday 8th August 2026

I woke up after a horribly restless night in bed, feeling like I had been in the tumble drier overnight!

Yes! I felt that bad folks!

I had my Quiet Time, uploaded my blog but when I went to check my emails, my laptop was not allowing me to get there. Ngrrrr!

Patience was needed in large dollops!

Ren’ (our daughter-in-law) sent me a text asking if she could pop over for a coffee this morning to which I said a very happy “Yes!”

So, Ren’ came over at about eleven this morning bearing cheesecake slices for the three of us – they were delicious.

We spent an hour or two catching up with all our news and Ren’ was so happy to hear about our cruise to New Zealand. She has done that cruise with her parents and highly recommended it for us.

After Ren’ left I got onto Stan to check the rugby games on today for Ken to watch.

At about three o’clock Ken and I began to watch the Brumbies take on the All Blacks in Cape Town, in South Africa. But the recording was bad and kept dropping out so Ken gave up watching halfway through and he went off to have a snooze, as he has another rugby game to watch tonight.

I watched a bit of TV but mainly knitted all afternoon – so I have almost finished the third wide lacey border on my baby shawl. Yahee!

Tomorrow Ken and I will go to the Green Point Baptist Church’s morning service, and I will pick up the ingredients I need to create a slow cooker of pulled pork for the next Sunday night’s worship evening in our church. Our church is hosting the other Baptist churches in the area. That should be fun.

Ren’ mentioned that Tayla (our eldest granddaughter and Ren’ and Paddy’s eldest.) Malcolm and Zara – their little baby girl, are hoping to come back to live in this area! They live in Melbourne at the moment, so it would be wonderful if they were all closer. I know Tamryn (Paddy and Ren’s middle daughter) who is the most adoring aunty that I know of – will be delighted when that happens!

I think a light supper of scrambled eggs for us two oldies tonight and we can watch the rugby together before heading for bed.

In the end Ken watched the rugby match but I went to bed early as I was tired.

What lesson did I learn today? Family is welcome to visit us any time at all!

What am I grateful for today? Being so much nearer to our family here.
