Times have changed!

Yoh! It was chilly last night and cool this morning. What crazy weather – registering only 9℃ this morning after all that heat we had around Christmas time!

I tiptoed up to my studio at half past four this morning with a steaming hot mug of coffee in my little clammy claw – off to have my Quiet Time!

I had no duties at church this morning, but I decided to leave the farm really early so that I could drop off some money with Jeannette. Jeannette is the lady who organized that morning tea for the past Sunday School and SRE Teachers in recognition of the work they did. Some of them taught for twenty years!  She also had certificate of Thanks printed and framed for each of these teachers, so I wanted to pay for that.

I arrived in Wauchope at half past nine and went straight to James Street, I knocked on the door of Jeannette’s home but there was no answer, so I arranged another way to get the money to her, and she did receive it later thankfully. I spoke to her as she was at the hospital with her husband who had just had a stroke, and she said that he was doing well but had a way to go before returning home again.

On my way home I stopped at Ritchies for a few groceries and then it was home again jiggety jog.

When I got back to the farm, Paddy and Matt’ were lugging the irrigation pods around endeavoring to get a system that worked to get water to all the trees that Paddy planted here last time he was up. It looked as if they had a way to go though, before that happened!

Both Matt’ and Paddy came in for something to drink and when I offered to put out lunch for them Matt’ suggested that he would create something for them both. He heated up (on the stove top, as the microwave is now deceased), the leftover steaks in the cheese sauce and they had that on bread. By their expressions they thoroughly enjoyed that!

We had a brief time to chat as they ate their lunch and then they were off to work again. I sorted the kitchen sink out and loaded the dishwasher again.

I began to write down all the coastal towns that I know of – and I am sure there are many I do not know of, to get an idea of the cost of homes and rentals as we will soon be moving off the farm. Yoh! It is scary this cost of living, but … I am sure we will find something to suit our budget eventually. Probably a plastic drum with an umbrella for a roof! Hah-ha!

It is good to remember this!

Tamryn contacted Paddy earlier to say that the traffic was horrific, so she was only making very slow progress to the farm from Terrigal. She will stay overnight or a night or two here before travelling up to Queensland to visit her best friend for a New Year’s Eve party.

Yahee! Tamryn arrived safely here. It was lovely to see her again and catch up with some chitter-chatter too.

What lesson did I learn today?  To enjoy the day quietly.

What am I grateful for today? The work Paddy and Matt’ do on the farm and it excites me to hear their plans for the future of the farm too.

My saying for today is …
