I woke up late today – just before five o’clock, but I obviously needed those extra few minutes after my tummy bug, as it seemed to have washed me out. But I am 100% find again and ready to tackle this brand-new day with fervor!
I had my Quiet Time, uploaded my blog and had a quick look at my emails before showering and getting dressed for church.
I woke Ken up at eight o’clock and he rolled out of bed and began to get ready for church too.
We left home at about a quarter past nine and headed for church. There we met up with Mariekie - one of the ex-South African ladies in the Coffie Club and mother of one of Paddy’s best friends and the three of us sat together in church.
After the service I collected my beautifully presented brown paper bag of the goodies I will be needing to create the pulled pork shoulder slow cooker meal for the worship evening next Sunday night. Our church is hosting a huge night of all the Baptist churches in the area.
I thought it was so nicely done with the recipe printed in color on the front of the bag and my name printed there too. All I had to do was collect it!
As Ken and I were driving back home from church I suggested that I drive doand wn to the Regional Art Gallery come Japanese Gardens to check if the café had opened again yet. The powers that be had told me a while ago that they would open for coffees while the renovations continued and then the café would be fully operational on the first of September.
Ken and I were so happy to see that it was open for light meals and teas coffee, so we stopped and ordered a coffee for each of us.
As we were sitting and sipping our coffees Joss’ (one of our six grandsons) phoned to ask if they could pop over for tea, so I suggested they meet us at the café where we were already. They did so and it was lovely to catch up with their latest news.
Then Josh’ and Paulina headed back to their home and Ken and I went to ours.
Once home, Ken went to have a rest, and I sat and finished knitting the third side of the wide lacey border on my baby shawl. Yahee! Done. So now I begin the last side of the lacey border.
We just had a very light supper – Ken had scrambled eggs again and I had a bowl of chilli noodles.
After which Ken headed for bed but sat up and watched “The Block” on TV - I love that program - a competition of five couples competing in a renovation project.
Shame, I chatted to Mich’ tonight and she is sounding so sick with the dreaded cold/flu – sore throat, coughing, blocked nose, aching all over et cetera. I hope it soon goes away and that she will soon be feeling chipper again. And long may I escape all sniffles or illness that are flying around at the moment.
What lesson did I learn today? To enjoy a lovely quiet day.
What am I grateful for today? A visit from Josh’ and Paulina.
My saying for today is …
