Blog for Thursday 18th December 2025

But, with or without an alarm (to make sure that I get up at four o’clock in the mornings), I was awake and out of our bed at twenty past four this morning.

I forgot to set my alarm last night as I was so tired that as I lay down on our bed, I was already fast asleep! Yep, I can get that tired, people!

Today I had a lot to do and so straight after my Quiet Time up in my studio, I began …

I had loads and loads and loads of washing to do – blankets, duvets., duvet covers, pillowcases, throws – you name it, I had to wash it! I then staggered out, evading the rooster who is determined to have a go at me – (foolish feathered creature as I have the rifle!) out to the washing line to hang it all out to dry!

I then decided that I really needed to put up our Christmas decorations, so I had to unpack the container to get the colors I needed for this year’s Christmas theme. I am using the colors red and gold this year.

To make it easier to mix and match each year I have containers labelled with the Christmas decorations done in colors. For example, Gold; Red; Silver and so on.

Next, I huffed and puffed and moved furniture around to accommodate the Christmas tree as I thought if it was going to be a hot day on Christmas Dau, we should try to be in the living area of the shed where we have an air con – it is very old, and not that much of a whiz, but it cools the room down a bit.

Then I began dusting and polishing furniture, and the leather suite. I decorated the Christmas tree and added some tinsel to my pot plants to add a bit of color to the room.

I dismantled and cleaned another two fans – so only have two more to do – that will make eleven in total, I think.

At lunch time I was whacked so climbed onto our bed and slept for half an hour. I think the heat gets to me sometimes, or it can also be because of a restless night or nightmares the night before.

That quick snooze helped push my energy levels up again thankfully.

It has been another really hot day so when it cooled down a bit I watered Paddy’s plants in pots. I could not get down to the ones planted down the drive today. I will try to do something for those trees later on, once I have out home organized for Christmas.

Now, after all that washing I have a huge mound of ironing to do. I will try and do that in the morning, after my Quiet Time tomorrow.

Ken is going into Wauchope for me tomorrow to pick up my meat order, so that I can continue getting things done here at home. I need to bake and cook too, so I must get a wiggle on with those things too.

I am so grateful that the evenings cool down, and it is really lovely sitting outside as the remains of the day leak away.

What lesson did I learn today? See what has to be done, and do it

What am I grateful for today? That I am making good progress!

My saying for today is …
