Blog for Thursday 6th August 2026

Brrr, it was really chilly this morning I think the weathermen said it was 4℃ - well, it certainly felt like it!

I rolled out of a beautifully warm bed and straight into a wall of cold! Yikes! That woke me up – I think my eyes were frozen open for a while!

I had my Quiet Time, read my emails and uploaded my blog, but will have to get back to the emails later in the day.

I was absolutely angelic this morning in that I did all the ironing! Shoo, that was worth a couple of really bright and shiny halos with a pair of wings thrown in too!

At eleven o’clock I got Ken up so we could go out – it is another lovely sunny day even if still cold. But I thought we could go down to Terrigal and have an ice cream or maybe some fish and chips and a walk along the boardwalk that hugs the coastline there. It is so lovely down there and on such a perfect day it seems such a waste to remain cooped up inside.

Well, I tackled a new way to get to Terrigal Beach area - via Green Point, as the roads there are quieter and I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it!

I did it!

I managed to find a parking and then we walked down to the Take-Away, and Ken bought us fish and chips. We sat on the large stone wall waiting for our meal to be prepared.

It was a truly beautiful day, but no one was swimming as it was still nippy even though a sunny day.

On the Boardwalk there is sea on both sides and underneath and the view is lovely.

Shame, poor little chap one could clearly see where it had been bitten by a shark, but it is being guarded by volunteers to make sure it is safe from predators and human beings, who sometimes do stupid things.

Ken did not come with me to see the seal as he had done a fair walk already and so I left him halfway on the Boardwalk where there is a large bench and he could relax and watch the sea and people passing by.

Well, I so enjoyed our little outing. I was tempted to pop in to say “Hi!” to Mich’ et famille on our way home again, but she is working and so are they, but I will brave visiting them on a weekend when they are all there and not working.

Once home Ken headed off for a snooze and I began to look at all the information on our cruise to New Zealand. I need to book certain packages so must do a fair amount of reading before deciding what we want to do on and off the ship.

All very exciting!

Then I watched a couple of nature documentaries before slowly keeling over and heading for bed.

It had been a lovely day.

What lesson did I learn today? To try something new.

What am I grateful for today? A beautiful day out in the sunshine.
