Blog for Tuesday 13th October 2026

I rolled out of bed in slow motion this morning! You know those lazy sorts of executions of waking up? Oh dear! Laziness was already creeping in at the beginning of the day Gail Morgan! Watch it woman.
I am really looking forward to our first Bible Study Group meeting this morning – it will be the first meeting for Term 4. Ken and I will be missing the next two or three meetings as we will be on our cruise to New Zealand.
Oh, how hard life can be, people! (Not!)
I had my Quiet Time and did my normal early morning routine before showering and getting dressed for the day.
I invited Mich’ and Robert across this evening for dinner as we need to chat to them before we leave on Saturday. I will ask Mich’ to check that I have done everything I should have done and to transfer money into our Wise bank account. Robert, I know will want to see what has been done regarding the water leak, and what he still has to do.
Dee, my sister, is taking me out to lunch on Thursday for my birthday (as she was away with a friend on my birthday.) Yoh! All of a sudden the time is disappearing rapidly before we leave Australia and head for New Zealand!
Ken has a doctor’s appointment this afternoon – the doctor wants to chat t him about his blood test results. He said, “Nothing urgent”. But he wants to talk to Ken about them face to face.
I had originally planned to go to Erina Fair to get the last-minute things for our trip, but we will have to do that tomorrow instead.
I am praying that the farm is receiving lashings of rain today as was forecast, but so far, I have heard nothing from Paddy! Which means no rain.
Our Bible Study meeting was really good and there were fourteen of us although two members were absent. It is just a good group and I am so happy that we are in it.
After Bible Study we stuck our heads around Will Tugwell’s door (one of the young pastors) to get forms so that we can become members of this church and I also asked him what or where there is a need in the church that I could be of service.
When we get back from our cruise I think I will maybe attend one of the Sunday School primary classes to see how they teach and if I would be of use there. Or Ken and I could be on the “Welcome-to-church” duties at the front door on Sundays. I will hopefully choose wisely so that I can truly contribute be something of use.
Then Ken and I headed to Coles as I thought Mich’ and Robert were coming over for dinner tonight so I would need a few groceries, but plans have changed and they will come over on Thursday evening instead, which is fine for us all.
It is a cooler day today and the sky is leaking – in fact, sometimes fairly decent rain falling.
At Bible Study Kathi – a friend of mine – arrived with an enormous box, beautifully wrapped with ribbons and a “Birthday Girl” rosette for me! Wow! WHAT a spoiling. She bought me a little ceramic bird feeder which is absolutely beautiful, and I am so delighted with it. The birds in the area are going to love our little garden.

I got Ken to hold it up for me so I could take a photo of it. It is in teal in color and is really lovely. I am thrilled with it – “Thank you Kathi!”
Today is a marvellous time to be at home with the skies drip-dripping continually and it being a lot cooler – it is a reading-sort-of-day, except I need to get my act together for our cruise and to make sure that I have everything washed and clean before we go.
So maybe no reading today!
I think I will begin in the kitchen today and see how much of our supplies I can get down to minimum. I want to leave some food here for Mich’ who will come across to water our plants and to work here too.
My little bird feeder from Kathi
This afternoon I checked all my emails – which once again had mounted up. I read, answered, saved or deleted emails trying to bring some law and order into my emails again.
Ken had a doctor’s appointment and poor guy thought his appointment was for 3.30pm but it was for 3.00pm so he was not popular in the rooms at all! I had asked Ken earlier if he was sure that it was 3.30pm as I had it down for 3.00pm but often he receives texts where they have changed the time of his appointment, so I did not insist on it being 3.00pm. Whatever! He did not do it on purpose, and we know that even if the ladies at reception are all huffy.
Tonight I am making butter chicken with rice, and I think I will also serve it with peas – that should finish the peas and rice leaving our deep freeze pretty empty, but the grocery cupboard is still full!
Look who made a stop-over-call for a brief seed eating moment …

Two very soggy and wet cockatiels or cockatoos who were delighted to find a free meal?
Yes, I think I am going to have many happy moments watching these little feathered friends pop in.
Tonight I began a new series on TV, but not sure if I will continue or not. I need to watch it for a couple of episodes before I can make up my mind.
I am still praying madly that Paddy is getting some good rain on the farm. Apparently, he had had 8mm of rain on the farm, which is better than a stick in the eye, I guess.
At seven o’clock tonight, I made my weary way to bed to listen or watch something on my phone before sliding into the Land of Nod.
What lesson did I learn to day? You choose your attitude in life.
What am I grateful for today? The rain.
My saying for today is …

“Life is a canvas; paint it with your dreams.”
