Blog for Tuesday 4th August 2026

I catapulted out of bed thinking I had woken up late, but nope, all was well and it was just after four o’clock, so I was not late at all!

I had my Quiet Time, uploaded my blog and had a quick look at my emails.

 And I had no intention of being late. This was our first time attending this Bible Study group and I was not sure of where to go for it so wanted to get there early.

I showered and dressed. I woke Ken up at eight o’clock as we were going to join the mixed group – men and women - Bible Study Group today.

I drove us to the Greenpoint Baptist Church and then we fumbled around trying to find the room where the Bible Study Group met in. After a few false starts we found it!

Ken and I really enjoyed our morning with this group. Today it was led by a retired pastor as the ‘normal’ leader was away having a biopsy done on a melanoma on his neck. We look forward to meeting him - maybe next week.

Apparently, not all the group were there today but Ken and I got to meet Peter, Bob, Keith (who led the study) and Stephen – Marikie we knew from the ex-South African group here. The group consists of about fourteen people normally.

After our Bible Study I drove Ken and I to Aldis and I ran in to grab a few items as Mich’ and Robert were coming over in the early evening to watch “The Block” with us tonight.

I had suggested maybe having a coffee and dessert evening with them, and so I put out things easily eaten and yummy to taste while we watched the renovation series together.

I was so happy as they – Mich’ and Robert – brought little Savvy (their little dog) with them and she was delighted to be back here with us. She clearly remembered staying with us a few months ago, dear little, hairy hound!

It was a lovely evening, but poor Robert had got the sniffles and was clearly not feeling that top notch, luckily, I had some Panadol for him to take and hopefully it will not develop into anything horrid.

When Mich’, Robert and Savvy left us – Ken had retired to bed before the TV program started as it is not a show he would enjoy – but he was still awake sitting up in bed scrolling on his phone when I managed to get to bed!

I had put everything away and was soon in bed and fast asleep.

What lesson did I learn today? That our circle of friends is slowly growing.

What am I grateful for today? Just another happy day for me!
