Blog for Wednesday 14th October 2026

The new day arrived very damp around the edges. The odd drizzle fell and the skies were heavily overcast and grey, but it was a new day and that is what counted!
I had my Quiet Time, uploaded my blog and checked my emails – I have managed to pare down my emails significantly. Wonderful!
Today, I went over what we need to get on board on Saturday – what documents blah blah fish paste and to have them handy when we arrive at the quay, as I believe one only has three minutes to do that! I think I will request a wheelchair for Ken so that he does not have to be concerned with tripping or feeling unsteady on his feet. (Hmm, maybe I can hitch a ride too! Haha!)
Today I need to get to Erina Fair – which I had planned to do this morning, but Ken wanted to sleep in for a while. He needs to get new prescriptions so I will have to wait until he is ready as I do not want to be shuttling backwards and forwards to the shops over the next few days.
I asked Dee, my sister, if she would not mind cancelling her taking me out to lunch for my birthday tomorrow, and rather that she just pop in and visit us instead. She said that would suit her fine as she has a client arriving at one o’clock, so she will just come across in the morning at about ten o’clock and have tea with us rather. Wonderful.
Then Mich’ and Robert will have dinner with us tomorrow evening and I will get Mich’ to check that I have done everything I need to do for our cruise. I am sure that I have but it is always nice to have someone check. We will also borrow their international plug as I think I will need that for charging my laptop.
Wow! I was just checking my latest email from Celebrity Edge cruise, and I see that there are eleven restaurants on board – so we should not go hungry! I think three of them one has to book early to get a table but honestly what an incredible choice is before us. We will have to flip a coin to make our decisions!
I also printed out the labels sent to us by Celebrity to be put on our luggage, but because my printer has gone on strike and is not printing in color, I colored the labels by hand then sealed them so they do not run should it pour with rain! Talk about finding patience at moments like that! Shoo, but it can be very elusive!
Ken and I asked to become members of this Baptist church in Greenpoint and apparently, we will be accepted when they have the next meeting in November. That is good.
Tonight I did not really feel like producing meal of note, so I made pepper steak pies, potato mash and peas and it was just what we felt lie having on a cold rainy evening.
I watched some TV in the early evening and then headed for bed and Ken followed me. I was soon sound asleep.
What lesson did I learn today? To do the things on my ‘To Do List’ no matter whether I feel like doing them or not!
What am I grateful for today? A damp day, and I got almost all my ironing done!
My saying for today is …
