I sort of inched my way out of bed this morning, hoping that someone would say “Don’t get up yet!” but nary a sound came from my man or my dog!
I was on my own!
I went upstairs to have my Quiet Time and to get my mind in some semblance of order as we were off to town to do a fair bit of shopping. I like to plan out route so that we make as much of our time as is possible.
While I was waiting for Ken to get ready for our trip to town I did all the ironing. Whoop-dee-doo-dee! That is behind me for a few days.
We did well in our buzzing about town, I thought. We did what we had to do without any problems.
Our last stop was at Aldis, and as we were about to walk into the shop we bumped into a good friend of mine – well ours, Jill McKittrick from Ellenborough! We had a brief chat as she was hurrying off to wherever and we were about to attack the grocery list and Aldis! It was so nice to see her as our paths seldom cross frequently anymore which is sad. Hopefully we will see them more in the new year.
We eventually got back to the farm after four o’clock and we carried in the double bed mattress that I purchased from Amart in Port’. It is an ‘el cheapo’ one which seems a little firm, but it should be ‘sleep-on-able’, I think. It is for the spare double bed in the main shed area and so will only be used once in a blue moon really.
I also bought four new pillows too as we lost a lot of our pillows in that last flood as everything that was under the tarpaulins or gazebos got drenched during the last huge flood and when the floors of the top shed were being skimmed, sanded, stained and sealed.
We had 2mm of lovely soft drizzle overnight, but enough to keep all the trees – those in the ground and those still in pots – happy and hydrated. I will water them tonight as there has been a stiff breeze blowing this afternoon which dries everything out very quickly.
In the late afternoon I sorted out bedlinen for when Mich’, Robert, Josh’ and Paulin arrive on Sunday, they will be with us until the Friday when they will then drive up to Queensland to visit Robert’s cousins who live up there.
What lesson did I learn today? To find enjoyment in the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping!
What am I grateful for today? That we survived the day in town.
My saying for today is …
