Blog for \Wednesday 5th August 2026

Again, I thought that I had overslept but it was only three o’clock in the morning, so I snuggled down under the toasty warm duvet and waited until four o’clock before braving the chilly morning.

And it was chilly!

I had my Quiet Time, uploaded my blog and luckily all was well with the internet this morning, then I skimmed through my emails to check for anything urgent.

Nothing was.

I showered and dressed and left my man at about half past nine and headed off to Erina Fair. I am quite the townie now and get to the places I need to get too without batting an eyelid. Shoo, I have come a long way from when we first got here – I was all nerves and terrified by all the traffic after living out on the farm for so long, but am quite relaxed now – not sure how the other drivers around me are feeling though!

I met up with a few of the ex-South Africans in Erina Fair – there were not that many of us there today, but it is nice to see familiar faces for me. Suzan, Alma, Pippa, Judy. Marieta, Mariekie and two brave men folk!

We spent a pleasant few hours sipping coffee and chatting before I left the group and headed off to Greenpoint Coles to get Ken’s Iced Coffee.

When I got back home Tita (lady in the unit above us) was out hanging up her washing and when I popped my head around the corner to say “Hi!” she told me not to come near as she was not feeling well at all. She had a sore throat and was not feeling good at all. I gave her a wide berth as I have no intention of getting sick.

I did a few loads of washing today then hung it out on the line as it was a sunny day, but the sun is very weak and I will have to spin it in the tumble drier for a few minutes tomorrow morning and then do the ironing.

As I had no ironing to do yet, I snuck into the lounge and watched a beautiful video on leopards – I am fascinated by the beauty of nature and leopards are incredibly beautiful animals. I marvelled at the patiencce of both the leopards and the photographer!

Ken and I have decided that we will have soup and toast again tonight as it is the best in this chilly weather, and it is filled with all things good for one too – chicken and about eleven different veggies. Plus we still have the apple and cinnamon muffins with cream and the vannila brioche buns for dessert.

What lesson did I learn today? Not to overload the circuit as it flips the switch!

What am I grateful for today? Although a chilly day it was filled with sunshine.

What is my saying for today?
